2012 MPPIA Stephen J. Cannell Classic Industry Fundraiser: And Your Tee Time…?
The much anticipated annual industry event is set to take place Monday June 25th at its traditional home, the prestigious Point Grey Golf and Country Club. The former ai???MPPIA All Star Golf Tournamentai??? returned to its roots in 2011, renamed as a tribute to the original tournament’s founder and BC industry trailblazer Stephen J. Cannell.
Avid golfers will enjoy the opportunity to play this renowned private members club; non golfers will simply have a blast enjoying the treats set up on course. What better way to thank clients (or get acquainted with new ones), suppliers or staff than a leisurely day at Point Grey Golf and Country Club — this is the networking event of the season!
2012′s tournament will continue to support the MPPIA Short Film Award and The Greater Vancouver Foodbank Society.
In addition, we will be including Mind Check as a fundraising recipient. Mind Check was created in order to assist young people to identify and understand mental distress they may be experiencing and to link them to sources of help that will enable them to learn skills and strategies to manage these problems. Being able to recognize early signs and finding ways to deal with them increases the chances of better long-term outcomes and positive mental health across the lifespan.
Stephen Cannell passed away Sept. 30 2010, but he will long be remembered for his enormous contributions to the BC motion picture industry and for his generous spirit, lending his name to many charity events. Like his vision for a BC based production industry, Stephen Cannell’s idea of an industry golf tournament fundraiser has flourished in Vancouver for more than 20 years and he will be appropriately remembered every year when industry gathers to raise money at the traditional favourite of the industry’s annual event calendar.
