The Motion Picture Production Industry Association of BC (MPPIA) today applauded a commitment from NDP Leader Adrian Dix to improve the BC industry’s competitive position with a 7% rise in the present labour tax credit to 40% if elected on May 14.

“We are pleased that the BC NDP recognizes the value and potential of a thriving production sector in this province,” said MPPIA Chair Peter Leitch. “Competitive tax credits are an imperative in today’s global production market. The BC industry stands among the best in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and London and with a level playing field our future opportunities for employment, investment and growth are extremely promising,” Leitch adds.

MPPIA is a member-based, non-profit society established in April 2002 to grow, diversify and promote a competitive and sustainable motion picture production industry in British Columbia.
