MPPIA Short Film Award Contenders Get Ready to Pitch Dec. 1 at the 12th Annual Whistler Film Festival (Nov.28-Dec.2)
The Motion Picture Production Industry Association of British Columbia (MPPIA), British Columbia Film + Media and the Whistler Film Festival are pleased to present the 2012/13 MPPIA Short Film Award Pitch at the 12th Annual Whistler Film Festival:
Saturday, December 1, 10:30 am Whistler Conference Centre
Based on an adjudication process administered by British Columbia Film + Media, the five finalists and their projects are:
Don’t Run Off the Trail, Johnny (Nan) Ma
True Love Waits, Jon Ornoy
Apocalypse Caf, Scott Kukurudz
The Pertect Pair, Tyler Funk
Cougars Cruising, Brianne Nord-Stewart
The successful candidate will receive a $10,000 cash award from MPPIA, a $5,000 cash award from British Columbia Film + Media, plus in-kind production services up to $100,000 for a short film project to be completed within 18 months after receiving the Award. The completed project will be eligible for screening at the 2013 Whistler Film Festival.
Also in store at the Whistler Film Festival is the world premiere screening of 2011 MPPIA Short Film Award winner Mark Ratzlaff’s Beauty Mark, Saturday Dec. 1 at 2pm, Millennium Place.
Now in its sixth cycle, the MPPIA Short Film Award provides one filmmaker with an opportunity to further develop his/her directing career by realizing a unique creative vision. The Award was founded to recognize and celebrate the contribution of film and television to the Province of British Columbia.
