Film & Television productions across British Columbia had a ratings war of a different kind as they lined up against one another in support of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank: The Reel Thanksgiving Challenge 2016. This year industry sponsors supported local productions together raising a grand total of $156,830.00 in funds and food for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
The 2016 campaign breaks all previous records and shows the great capacity for community awareness and giving across the production industry Here are the winning top 5 productions:
1. Arrow cash raised $33,735 food value $3,537.50 (1,415 lbs.) Total: $37,272.50
2.The Magicians cash raised $15,900 food value $1,027.50 (411 lbs.) Total: $16,927.50
3.Timeless cash raised $10,236 food value $2,830 (1,132 lbs.) Total: $13,066.00
4. Lucifer cash raised $9,933 food value $2,957.50 (1,183 lbs.) Total: $12,890.50
5. The Romeo Section cash raised $8,090 2016 Grand Totals: Funds Raised ‘ $143,625! Food Raised ‘ 5282 pounds at $2.50/lb. = $13,205!
Special thanks and honours go to the top 5 challenge winners:TV Series Arrow picked up this year’s industry win after pulling in an astounding $37,272.50 in funds and food donations, blowing away the competition. Food Bank President & CEO Aart Schuurman Hess joined industry sponsors to present the winners with trophies and certificates of achievement on Wednesday October 19th.
